DOYLESTOWN FARMERS’ MARKET
2008 VENDOR GUIDELINES
The following guidelines will be used by the Buckingham Township Civic Association (BTCA) to determine “the spirit of the Market” and vendors’ ability to vend at the market.
- All vendors must sign a Vendor’s Agreement, which states general guidelines for the market. In that agreement, vendors will agree to abide by the decision of the BTCA in any disputes.
- It is mandatory that vendors have grown or produced most of what they sell. We recognize that, especially at the beginning and the end of the market season, it may become necessary to supplement goods with purchased products. However, vendors whose goods are all or mostly purchases for resale will be prohibited from vending.
- The market is not intended to be a “flea market” for resale of goods purchased at a discount. As a general guideline, goods must be perishables, i.e., food, plants, produce, baked goods with the exception of dairy-based, normally refrigerated products.
- The market is intended for the sale of “take home” products. While it is recognized that customers cannot be prohibited from consuming a product while browsing, products that are intended solely for on-site consumption, i.e., coffee or juice sold in cups, are prohibited.
- It is imperative that vendors leave the site in the same or better condition than they found it. Violation of this will result in a withdrawal of the authorization needed to vend.
- Vendors must recognize that the table/space rates charged are considerably lower than at other sites. We therefore ask your cooperation in honestly computing the amount of space used to determine the vending fee. We have different collectors of the fee each month, and it is their responsibility to negotiate fees.
- We ask that vendors plan to vend for as many weeks as possible. If the BTCA finds it necessary to restrict the number of vendors, the vendor who attends less often than another may be restricted on that criterion.
- There are space limitations at the market. We ask you to be sensitive to the amount of space you require. As it becomes necessary, the BTCA retains the right to refuse vendor applications on the basis of lack of space.
- The BTCA retains the right to select vendors on the basis of the goods they sell; in general, vendors whose goods are different, or unusual, from goods currently being sold may be chosen over a vendor whose goods duplicate existing vendors. We believe that a variation of goods adds to the spirit of the market.
- It is our sincere hope that all vendors cooperate with one another and work towards the mutual goal of a friendly community atmosphere at the market. We believe this will result in a worthwhile contribution to the community as well as a productive outlet for the vendor.
- BTCA retains the right to add additional items to this list from time to time as it deems necessary.
